For those that have never been to this place, it is located in the NW corner of GA and is located on the top of a mountain ridge that extends all the way to Lookout Mtn., TN at Chattanooga. Lots of woodlands, spacious campsites and very friendly staff. It is also the location for the largest canyon East of the Mississippi River. It has lots of trails to hike and a waterfall, more waterfalls in the spring but one nice one year around if you have the energy to make the hike.
Gravel camp sites with picnic table, fire pit and a grill. Big Red unhitched from the trailer with my bike, Sweet Thang, resting alongside.
On the other side is Wendy's HD Trike.
Wendy at the table with Sadie, a well mannered Boxer. Dogs have to be on a leash but no problem. Now they can travel with us.
A woodland scene and the leaves were just starting to turn.
A very relaxing place. Mr. A relaxing with Wendy relaxing. We were all lazy the first day there. The energy just seemed to ooze out of you causing eye lids to slowly close.
A driver's side view of the trailer, a Vengance Rouge by Forest River.
We rode the bikes down to the Canyon to take a look and then the next day we decided to take the truck into Chattanooga to have some excellent ribs by Sugars Ribs located just off the interstate on the East side of Chattanooga.
Just a bit pricey but a great place for a meal. We will definitely be going back.
The next day we cranked up the bikes and took to riding some of the roads in the area.
It was a great day for riding, not too hot and not too cold. Very little traffic to contend with.
An over the should shot of my shadow following me. We did turn off onto one road that was a bit scary. Shortly after we got onto it it turned to very loose gravel going down the mountain. After a bit I got turned around and then went back to help turn Wendy's bike around. We got off that road in a hurry. Loose gravel and a big bike just doesn't mix very well.
This area of GA is a great place to hang out. Good roads, scenic views and very relaxing.
We road the ridge highway, passing the jump-off site for the hang gliders that come here to soar out over the valley below. Covenant College is also on this highway. We turned off and went down into Trenton to grab an apple fritter and a coffee. Snack time.
On the 5th day we loaded everything back up and headed back to the house. It was a very relaxing five days and for Wendy, much needed.
Now the trailer has been winterized and will most probably stay parked until mid-January when it will roll out again for a couple of weeks traveling around the South.
If you are putting off going somewhere or to see something or somebody, don't. Life is short and we never know what tomorrow may bring. Get out there and look at all of the beautiful things God has given us, and some things that Man has created. Until the next Valkyrie Adventure, drive/ride safe and be happy.
